Ofeq-5 satellite

Launch (3e stage) failure, satellite fell in Mediterranean Sea.
Satellite beleived to be a new photoreconnaissance satellite. Israeli Defense Ministry reported as sauing "an unsuccessful attempt was made to launch a remote sensing satellite into orbit" following the explosion of the launch vehicle. Official reports subsequently indicated that the second and third stages of the Shavit launcher failed to separate. This is the fourth launch failure of the Shavit launcher out of eight launches.
